About

i’m from little rock, arkansas.  i did my undergraduate studies (in political science) at the university of arkansas at little rock. i’ve lived in some great places including the isle of iona, scotland; pilton, england; kilkenney, ireland; and a stint in spain.  i was fortunate enough to do an apprenticeship with english potter mike dodd for a while, and that was what really cemented my decision to work with clay. i’ve done residencies at red star studios in kansas city, and at the northern clay center here in minneapolis. i’ve also worked as a summer ceramics intern at anderson ranch arts center. i am currently attending graduate school at the university of minnesota.

i think a lot about our relationship with food, and excess, which usually go hand-in-hand. lately i’ve been reading about the history of the still life, and incorporating that into my work, or my working process. i’ve been experimenting with images in my work, also. some inspirations for that include personal experiences or that of characters from fiction or history.  i’m interested in creating a narrative with the still life of my pots and the imagery/text on the pots. what i’d like to do is make a bunch of pots– all different shapes, styles, and sizes, and pile them up and photograph them in many ambiguous ways, in different scenarios.
